At one point in my career, I had over 30 key accounts in my portfolio spanning 5 Regions with 100s of account team members. If you've been in national sales, strategic account management, or key account management, you know that's an impossible load. You're forced to sacrifice 90% of that list for the five accounts you think will carry you to the finish line by year end.
For each of those accounts, the work was the same: assess where you stand, analyze what the assessment tells you, build or revise your growth strategy, create a 90-day plan to execute, and then try to coordinate with every account's team what part they will play in all this. Multiply that by 30 accounts and you're looking at a planning cycle that could take most of the quarter just to get organized. No wonder 78% of sellers missed quota last year (Ebsta x Pavilion, 2025 GTM Benchmarks Report).
The reality is you don't get months. You get a week, maybe two, at the end of each quarter. That's the planning period. We're in that period right now. And if you're honest with yourself, you know what's happening: the same shuffle you did last quarter. Reviewing the same spreadsheets, updating stale account plans in the CRM, trying to figure out what to do next in each account to move it forward.
After a few years of that nonsense, I learned a better system. Not a process, but a complete system that always asked me the same questions every day, used the same scoring, same approach to strategy, planning and executing across every key account. I stopped "reinventing the wheel" and built a system that helped me scale key accounts consistently (see Vitality Index case studies). The system was built on standards, principles, logic and organized into multiple processes all running under a framework for advancing my accounts as quickly and accurately as possible. I stopped thinking of myself as the "Account Director" assigned to this account and became a Chief Architect and Orchestrator of my key accounts. The payoff: I became the #1 supplier to the largest companies in our space.
Time is our biggest asset in business. It's the one thing we don't get more of in this life. But what if the assessment was already done? What if the growth strategy was already tailored to where each account sits today? What if the planning was built for you and ready to hand to your boss and every team member touching the account tomorrow?
That's what the Vitality Index does. You assess the account once. The system scores where you stand across seven Partnership Domains and 21 Growth Drivers. It generates a tailored growth strategy based on your current partnership level. It gives you the plays, the next moves, and the coaching insights for every gap it finds. And it packages the whole thing so you can hand it to your entire account community, top down, and orchestrate a coordinated effort across everyone touching the account. All of this done in minutes, giving teams improved efficiency and greater capacity.
How? The Vitality Index is the only system in the marketplace that creates your growth strategy and execution plan for you. No data migrations necessary because the science behind the system is what produces the growth strategy. You can sync your calendar to update your CRM and see your activity and schedule fill up across your entire account team, across all domains and functions, running the right plays at the right time from the Vitality Index so you can advance your key accounts consistently.
Everything that can be known about growing a key account is in the Vitality Index waiting for you to login for access. We designed it from actual experience and case studies that took 30 years to build and generated over $2B in key account revenues.
It's a complete, end-to-end system that takes your account through 4 partnership levels ending in Vital Partnerships. We organized the assessment, scoring and strategy to follow the same framework. Once you're in, you will see over 1,200 handcrafted plays your account team will run until you reach Vital Partnership. The Vitality Index decoded 30+ years of industry-leading success so teams can just run the system and focus their time on growing the business.
The strategy is done. Your job is to run it.
For a manager with 5, 10, 30, 100+ key accounts, this changes the math entirely. The assessment takes minutes per account. The strategy generates immediately. The planning period shrinks from weeks of analysis to a day of execution planning.
The accounts you were sacrificing, the 90% you couldn't get to, now have a strategy too. They have plays. They have a plan. Your team members in those accounts know what to do because the system told them, tailored to that specific account, at that specific partnership level.
You stop spending your career planning how to grow key accounts and start spending it growing them.
The Vitality Index is the system that gives your team a tailored growth strategy for every key account.

Your customer account plans are missing some vital pieces
Account plans go stale because they are snapshots, written in a planning event while the account keeps moving. Reps stop using them because nothing in the daily work ever touches the plan again. Both problems have the same cause: the plan is missing vital pieces. Here are the pieces, and how to put them in.

Why the Hardest-Working Team Doesn't Always Win the Largest Account
The team that loses the account it fought hardest for is rarely outworked. It is out-strategized. The edge the winning team has comes down to one question worth asking long before the account is at stake.

Three Reasons Your Enterprise Account Is Slowly Drifting Off Course
Strategic accounts rarely fail quickly. They drift, quarter by quarter, while the activity logs stay healthy. Three structural reasons drive most of the drift, and none of them are discipline failures. The Underlying Logic Behind Every B2B Sale Is Still Human Intelligence
Automation, AI, and every tool in your tech stack are only as good as the human intelligence beneath them. Vitality Index was not built from AI. It was built from decades of people working in enterprise sales, building 9-figure portfolios, and learning the patterns that keep showing up.

The Greatest Gift Sales Leadership Can Give a Rep Is Clarity
Most enterprise sales reps walk around in a fog. Not because they lack talent or effort, but because nobody has given them clarity. Clarity of strategy, clarity of plan, and clarity of what to do today. Vitality Index is built to deliver exactly that.

The Difference Between an Account Strategy and an Account Plan
An account strategy is the architectural drawing. An account plan is the builder's plan. Execution is the work. Most enterprise sales teams start with the work and never build the drawing. Vitality Index builds all three, in the right order, automatically.
